TridentCMG Responds to Recent Surge in ‘Active Shooter’ Incidents with Defensive Shield Program

There has been a ‘surge’ in the number of ‘Active Shooter’ incidents around the United States in recent weeks. These events have included both actual incidents that took place, such as the Texas Church shooting in Sutherland Springs this past week and, who could forget the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, and events disrupted in their planning stages, as well as a number of ‘false alarms’ sufficient to trigger a tactical response. In addition to schools, these events also took place at hospitals, shopping venues, and office buildings. Predictably, this most recent event in Texas in which 26 men, women, and children were gunned down in the supposed safety of their place of worship has brought about renewed cries from both gun control advocates and regular citizens frustrated with Government’s inability to solve the problem of rampant gun violence. And therein lies the problem; people have become accustomed to out-sourcing their personal security and therefore expect the Federal, State, or Local government and law enforcement agencies to assure that the individual is always safe. This is completely unrealistic and a recipe for failure.

TridentCMG personnel have been following ‘Active Shooter’ incidents since the 2004 Beslan School massacre in North Ossetia, Russia, where 184 children and 148 adults – 332 persons in total – were brutally murdered by Chechen terrorists. History is clear that increased ‘gun control’ measures do not reduce violent crime, and gun-related violence in particular. In fact, law enforcement statistics both in America and elsewhere show the exact opposite effect occurs. Therefore, TridentCMG has developed the Defensive Shield Program geared specifically to help management personnel responsible for the safe continued operation of ‘soft targets’ (churches, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, nursing homes, office buildings, etc.) through a highly structured training program adapted from training already provided to government agencies and law enforcement professionals worldwide.

TridentCMG Recommends the Travis Mills Foundation

TridentCMG is proud to recognize Staff Sergeant Travis Mills and recommend his Travis Mills Foundation, a nonprofit organization, formed to benefit and assist wounded and injured veterans and their families.

On 10 April 2012, United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills of the 82nd Airborne was critically injured on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan by an IED (improvised explosive device) while on patrol, losing portions of both legs and both arms. He is one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries. Despite his injuries, Travis continues to overcome life’s challenges, breaking physical barriers and defying odds. Travis lives by his motto:

“Never give up. Never quit.”

While at Walter Reed, Travis consistently toured the facility seeking opportunities to encourage and spend time with fellow wounded soldiers and their families. For this service, Travis quickly earned the nickname, the “Mayor,” at Walter Reed.
